Like every year the Province and the Municipality of Lucca, in collaboration with the Historical Institute of the Resistance and of the Contemporary Age in the province of Lucca (Isrec), the School for Peace and many other Municipalities of the territory have elaborated, coordinated and promoted a rich and varied program of initiatives to celebrate both the Day of Remembrance (27 January and 10 February).
An important trend that this year will be followed is that of sport and memory. A study on sport at the time of the racial and World War II laws, but also beyond: sport as a social and cultural phenomenon and its evolution over the years.
An issue that will be addressed by the Panini exhibition "The best albums of our life" that traces the history of sport, its intertwining with history, memory and racism, all through the historical Panini figurines that have marked the childhood of many.
Also on the same theme on January 29 at 9.15 pm at the Cinema Astra, two "1938 different" doctrilm by Giorgio Treves will be shown, presented at the Venice Film Festival last year and "1938: the Italian sport against the Jews" by the sports journalist Matteo Marani. The initiative, with free admission, is promoted in collaboration with the Cineforum Ezechiele.
