The plain of Lucca is the fruit of Roman colonization and the subsequent reclamation undertaken by the settlers before, continued in the '500 and ended in the nineteenth century with the final draining of the lake of Sesto, the largest lake in Tuscany, to ensure the health of the places and the availability of land for agriculture.
